The Village of Concord hired STG for the redesign and development of their new website. The goals of this project were to increase the visual appeal and functionality for the users of the website. I worked in close relationship with the graphic designer on my team in order to produce the final product. Communication with the client as well as my graphic designer was key in this development project.
The design of this website posed some challenges for my website development skills. The program we were using allowed me to customize some aspects of the website using HTML and CSS.
One challenge I faced during the development process was to customize the look of the latest announcements, pictured below. The Village of Concord is a municipality, so a key function of the website is to communicate to the residents of the village. Our graphic designer worked closely with the Village of Concord in order to produce the look of the latest announcements so that it communicated the announcements in the most effective way. Our program’s editing allowed me to make edits to the look of the announcements by employing CSS coding skills to achieve the exact specifications of the client.
Similarly, there were limitations to what our program could do regarding the calendar of events, also pictured below. Fortunately, I had the skills necessary to use plugins and CSS and HTML coding to create the calendar our graphic designer had created for the client.
The result of the project is pictured below. I learned to problem solve through the skills I have acquired through my formal education and relevant work experience. This website showcases my ability to problem solve and work together with my team to produce a highly functional, visually appealing website for a client.
