Process

I was tasked with redesigning STG’s website. STG is a website development firm specializing in municipal website development. I was tasked with improving the user experience of the website by updating the visual appeal and increasing efficiency in navigation. Below are screen captures of what the website looked like before the redesign.

One of the first steps during the redesign was to create a site map. There was a naming convention of the pages. Before the redesign the menu options could seem overwhelming to certain people. The goal was to simplify the menu and name the options in a way that was clear and simple. For example, instead of having a “Website Development” page and a separate “Document Management” page, we combined the information into one page and named it “Solutions”.

Design

The company had already begun using updated icons and colors so I was able to use inspiration from the icons above in the creating of the new website.

This  is a screen capture of the beginning stages of the website design. As you can see, the colors from the icons are used throughout the website in order to create separation between the sections so the user is able to navigate the home page effectively.

Results

The new website increased lead generation by 85% in the months after the launch. The updated design and functionality allows the website to act as an improved resource for both current and future clients.
